Films in two parts are characteristic of Weerasethakul's oeuvre. This cheerful hospital comedy, which takes place twice, also has an autobiographical basis; the director comes from a family of doctors. The first part is set in a provincial hospital in lush natural surroundings, the second part is set in a state-of-the-art clinic in the capital Bangkok. The same actors play in both parts, there are complementary camera positions as well as people and scenes that mirror each other: a pretty doctor, a rejected lover, an orchid expert, a Buddhist monk who would like to be a DJ, a singing dentist, a room full of prostheses, an unusual kind of job interview - recurrence and variation, even more: a reflection on memory, visions, dreams, time and reincarnation.
